RELEASE: Summer meals for kids and teens to be provided by SNOWFLAKE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 5 Contact: Melanie Self at 928-536-4156 Snowflake, Arizona May 1, 2024 – As part of its efforts to ensure kids have access to healthy meals during the summer months, Snowflake Unified School District No. 5 is pleased to announce its summer meals site will be serving kids and teens. Starting on May 28th 2024 Monday-Thursday, all kids and teens 18 and under can receive meals free of charge, no registration needed, at Snowflake Intermediate School. All summer school programs will be held at Snowflake Intermediate School, so we will be offering both GRAB & GO and congregate meals (on-site in the cafeteria). We are dedicated to still serving children and the community, and we plan to serve breakfast from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, and Lunch will be served 11:30 AM- 1:00 PM. For kids who rely on school meals, summer can be the hungriest time of year, and hunger has short- and long-term consequences for a child’s health, education and well-being. Making sure kids and teens have access to nutritious summer meals is especially important this summer. The Summer Meals program is funded by the USDA and run by school districts and local organizations, and sites can be found throughout the community. We’re always happy to see you at Snowflake Intermediate School, but there may be more convenient locations closer to you. Families can text “FOOD” or “COMIDA” to 304-304 and type in a zip code to find nearby summer meals sites, along with operating days and times. No application, registration or proof of residency or citizenship is required at sites. Visit SUSD5.ORG to learn more. Snowflake Unified District

Dear Parents and Staff, Earlier this evening a student posted a threat on social media directed at the Junior High. Police were contacted and the student was taken into custody for questioning. Due to the investigation, we are unable to give more details at this time. We do however want to assure parents that students will be safe and school will be held on a regular schedule. There will be an increase in police presence in and around our schools. Parents, please talk to your children about the seriousness of social media. All threats will be taken seriously. We would like to thank our local police department for their quick response to this matter. Sincerely, Hollis J. Merrell Snowflake School District Superintendent
